The Catholic Partage Foundation has temporarily resumed part of Caritas Luxembourg's humanitarian work since March, launching a two-year pilot phase for an assessment of its projects and its future role.
This is described as a temporary and partial resumption of operations, according to a press release issued by the foundation on Tuesday morning. The Partage Foundation operates under the authority of the Catholic Church and is presided by Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich.
The foundation has so far hired one employee and brought in two former Caritas volunteers. It has also submitted its first humanitarian project, focused on support for Ukraine, to Luxembourg' Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, specifically its Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Action.
In line with its renewed mission, the foundation aims to intervene where urgent humanitarian aid is most needed, acting swiftly and effectively in situations of acute vulnerability. A two-year pilot phase will allow Partage to evaluate its impact and define its future direction and long-term engagement in humanitarian work.
François Jacobs, former head of international cooperation at Caritas Luxembourg, has been appointed to the board of directors of Partage, ensuring continuity and expertise as the foundation repositions itself within Luxembourg's humanitarian landscape.
Partage operates under the authority of the Catholic Church in Luxembourg and is presided over by Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich. Rooted in Christian social values, the foundation is committed to serving the most vulnerable, regardless of nationality, religion, or political affiliation, with a spirit of solidarity, dignity, and compassion.
Founded over 50 years ago, Partage focuses on supporting development projects in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. The current transition marks an effort to maintain Caritas' independent humanitarian mission, based on the same core values.
