Since March 2023, the National Roads Administration has been busy with the construction of a new tunnel in Ettelbruck to decrease congestion in the town centre.
After driving over the Patton Bridge, motorists will soon be able to continue their journey through a 300-metre tunnel beneath the Nordstad, bypassing the Ettelbruck train station.
The tunnel will be opened to traffic once construction is completed by the end of 2028. It is estimated that approximately 10,000 vehicles will pass through the brand-new tunnel daily.

The municipality of Ettelbruck hopes that the combined construction of the new bridge and tunnel will significantly ease congestion in the town centre. The total cost of this project is €35 million.
