During a police control on Tuesday morning in Esch, nine drivers were pulled aside because they were on their phones while driving.
The drivers had to pay a fee of 250 euros and four points were deducted from their license.
In addition, in eight out of nine cases, the people in the car did not have their seat belts on, which cost a further 250 euros and four points.
One driver was caught without valid Contrôle technique papers, which came to 145 euros and a removal of two points. Another person didn’t have valid insurance papers. Finally, one driver received a warning about not having a tax vignette, costing a total of 24 euros.
Five drivers were admonished because they were driving too fast, and one of those drivers was fined because he was driving while under a driving ban.
The police also mentions that during the two alcohol checks in Schindels and Walferdange, none of the 57 drivers had drank too much.
