Friday marks the return of Luxembourg's biggest fair founded by John I of Luxembourg, better known as John the Blind, in 1340.

Nowadays, Schueberfouer is lauded throughout Europe as one of the most renowned fun fairs of the year, a true staple of excitement and tradition. Heritage, food, rollercoasters: there is something unique for everyone. Whether it's the crazy rides, the delicious food, or just the vibrant atmosphere, there's something special and unique for everyone.

All you need to know about the Schouberfouer

What's new and what's returning in 2024

This year, a total of 216 different stalls and rides will greet visitors on the Glacis square. As always, there are exciting new attractions for thrill-seekers.

Among them is the Jetlag, replacing the popular Techno Power from 2019, along with the caterpillar coaster 'Starlight', the interactive Laser Pix course, the wild river ride 'Wild Wasser Blume', and the eerie new ghost train Spuk.

For those with a taste for culinary delights, new food stalls like Magic Crêpes, Wrap Factory, Mini Donuts Factory or even Crêpes & More will delight your taste buds.

Traditional favourites are also making a comeback, including the Wilde Maus, Bayernkurve, Circus Circus and the Jules Verne Tower which offers spectacular views over the capital. And of course, let's not forget the iconic Bellevue ferris wheel.

Of the more than 600 applications that were submitted by mid-September last year, one third were rejected. The number of Luxembourg fairs present has increased slightly compared to last year, but most come from neighbouring countries or the Netherlands.

Mark your calendar for Family Day on the 28th, when you and your little ones can enjoy discounted prices on rides, visit various stalls, and indulge in a variety of treats. New this year is that eateries will also lower their prices. The goal, according to alderman Patrick Goldschmidt, is to make the trip as affordable as possible for families.

The Schueberfouer will be open every day from noon to 1am. The fair's final day will be Wednesday, 11 September - traditionally celebrated with spectacular fireworks launched from the Grand-Duchess Charlotte Bridge.
