Several drivers lost their licences for alcohol-related offences on Thursday night, including incidents in Esch-sur-Alzette and Merl.

At around 5pm on Thursday, police received a report of a driver in Esch-sur-Alzette near Place Benelux who had crashed into two parked cars and fled the scene without addressing the damage. Officers soon located the car parked on the pavement, having also collided with a house step. Initially, the driver was nowhere to be found. When officers tracked them down shortly afterwards, it became evident that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A breathalyser test confirmed this, leading to the driver surrendering their licence. A police report was filed.

Early Friday morning around 6am, another intoxicated driver was reported at the intersection of Rue des Aubepines and Route de Longwy in Merl. The driver was found asleep behind the wheel and was woken by an officer who administered a breathalyser test. The test returned a positive result, resulting in the revocation of the driver's licence. As it turned out, the motorist was unable to produce valid insurance or a driving licence, prompting officers to inform the public prosecutor's office. The car was immobilised, and charges were filed against the driver.
