TICE, the public transport service in the canton of Esch-sur-Alzette, is on the brink of a strike due to deteriorating working conditions, according to the staff delegation of the public transport union.

In a press release, the delegation explains that since the new head took over the Department of Mobility and Circulation, pressure on TICE staff has been steadily increasing. The department has been pushing for more routes, often at the expense of good working conditions.

Regulations have become more restrictive, and there has been a noticeable lack of consideration for staff well-being.

Despite warnings to the planner responsible for service distribution that the staff had reached their limits, their concerns have been ignored. As a result, employees are struggling to perform their duties, leading to frequent cancellations and significant delays.

Efforts to gather information on the number of outages and overtime hours since 24 June have gone unanswered for weeks. An internal survey among staff was reportedly obstructed by management, indicating an attempt to conceal the issues.

The new leadership at TICE has been unresponsive to dialogue, using ongoing negotiations for a new convention as an excuse to push through more restrictive measures. This approach has been perceived as exploiting the situation to the detriment of the staff.

According to the personnel representative, if immediate changes are not made to address the current situation, a strike will soon be inevitable.
