Environmental organisation Natur&ëmwelt has expressed apprehension over the government's recent proposals to streamline procedures in environmental, agricultural, and housing sectors.

While acknowledging the potential for administrative simplification in nature conservation, the organisation warns that such measures could exacerbate the already “alarming state” of Luxembourg’s environment.

According to Natur&ëmwelt, several announced measures pose significant risks to nature. Specifically, the organisation highlights that environmental impact studies may only be mandated for areas exceeding 4 hectares, compensation measures for certain species are to be abolished, and the proposal to introduce the principle of “silence means agreement.”
