Two separate altercations in Luxembourg on Tuesday night led to multiple arrests and hospitalisation, highlighting a night of unrest in Käerjeng and the capital.
The first fight broke out between two men on Rue Nicolas Meyers in Käerjeng on Tuesday night after one man attacked another. A police patrol intervened and told the initiator to leave the scene; however, he later returned and tried to attack his victim for a second time. At this point, officers took him into custody overnight.
Two other men in the area took it upon themselves to insult and provoke the officers and were told to leave several times. They were eventually taken into custody to sober up after refusing to move.
Disagreement on the streets of the capital
A police patrol in Luxembourg City came across two men standing in the middle of the road where Rue Dicks meets Avenue de la Liberté and having a spirited disagreement. One of the men was visibly injured. Officers approached the pair, at which point one of them threw away a stone.
It transpired he had injured the other man with the stone. The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for further care. The other man was fined by order of the public prosecutor's office.
