Police responded to an attempted robbery on a train on Saturday evening around 9pm. According to initial investigations, two unidentified suspects tried to rob passengers while the train was en route. As the train arrived at Leudelange station, the suspects discharged pepper spray inside the carriage before fleeing towards a nearby forest. The robbery attempt ultimately failed, and the perpetrators managed to escape the scene, police reported. However, the use of pepper spray caused respiratory problems among several passengers.
Despite an initial search, police were unable to locate the suspects immediately after the incident. However, around 1am on Sunday, officers encountered two individuals in an abandoned house in the Belair district, who matched the description provided by witnesses. A search of the pair uncovered two canisters of pepper spray.
Following orders from the public prosecutor, the two suspects were taken into custody.
In a separate incident on Saturday evening, police officers caught a person urinating against the wall of a local business in the Luxembourg-Gare district around 9pm. During the identity check, another individual intervened and both began behaving aggressively towards the officers, hurling insults and refusing to cooperate. As police attempted to restrain the pair, additional bystanders gathered and refused to leave the scene despite repeated requests. Due to their continued uncooperative behaviour, the detained individuals spent the night in custody.
