16 new petitions have been published on the Chamber of Deputies' website and are now open for public signatures - and one has already garnered the necessary 4,500 signatures.

Among the proposals, one petitioner advocates for state aid to assist residents in purchasing smartphones, while another seeks tax breaks for pensioners. Additionally, a petition suggests allowing motorcycles to filter through traffic jams, and another proposes changing the order of town signs to display Luxembourgish names first, followed by translations in German or French.

Other petitions call for stricter penalties for pedestrians disregarding red lights, the constitutional protection of cash, and the establishment of cannabis social clubs. Furthermore, there is a call for separate tills at service stations to reduce waiting times for customers not purchasing alcohol or cigarettes.

Meanwhile, a petition aiming to prevent the closure of the road between the French town of Rédange and Belvaux has garnered over 4,500 signatures, meeting the threshold for triggering a public debate in the Chamber of Deputies.

Currently, this threshold still stands at 4,500 signatures, but it will increase to 5,500 in the future.
