Hikers in Luxembourg now have a definitive, updated resource with the release of a new national guide featuring 202 fully re-surveyed trails across more than 1,700 kilometres.

A new and comprehensive "auto-pédestre" hiking guide for Luxembourg has been released, featuring 202 trails that span more than 1,700 kilometers across the country.

The guide, published by Binsfeld, represents a significant technological and structural overhaul of the previous 2017 edition. After five years of development, the result is a compact, practical folder containing 202 individual, removable cards. Each card details a trail with a profile and a QR code, which will be regularly updated to reflect the latest trail conditions.

A key change noted in the guide is the updated trail signage. Minister of Tourism Lex Delles explained that the traditional blue arrow has been replaced by a blue rhombus to indicate that the routes are now officially signposted in both directions.

This new edition is more than a simple update, it is a complete revision. 50 older trails have been removed and replaced with new ones. The guide features over 700 new photos showcasing the nation's diverse landscapes. Each of the 202 tours is described in French, German, and English, with clear details on length, elevation, difficulty, GPS data, and access by public transport or car.

According to Marie Mathieu, who worked on the project, creating the guide was an "ambitious hike" in itself. "It was clear to us that it would be a major undertaking because I don't think so much work had ever been put into it before," she stated, highlighting that the trails were "completely revised." The guide also introduces new categories of circular trails, such as the "Éislek Pied" and "Guttland Trails," which did not exist in prior editions.

The teams focused not only on the quality of the publication but also on the trails themselves. Over the past five years, routes were regularly inspected and, where necessary, re-signposted or improved on-site to ensure a high-quality hiking experience.
