According to a press release, Frieden wants to “ensure the political neutrality” of the Chamber of Commerce. For this reason, he stepped down as its president on 2 February.
Fernand Ernster, until now vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce, was unanimously elected as Frieden’s successor. He will remain president until the end of the current mandate in April 2024.
