Food producer Danone has issued a further recall of batches from its Aptamil and Milumil baby food brands. The action follows new recommendations from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) regarding limits for cereulide, a toxin produced by bacteria.

Exposure to elevated levels of cereulide can lead to severe nausea and stomach pain within 30 minutes to six hours. Danone has advised that parents should not use the affected products under any circumstances. The company urges any caregivers whose babies exhibit such symptoms after feeding to seek immediate medical attention.

Parents can check whether their purchased product is part of the recall by visiting the brand websites aptaclub.de and milupa.de and verifying the best-before date.

This recall is part of a wider series of actions across Europe in recent weeks. Similar milk powder products for infants from other manufacturers, including Nestlé, Babybio, and Popote, have also been withdrawn for the same reason. The Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration (ALVA) had previously recalled the implicated products.
