Whilst Christmas is often associated with having quality time with family or friends, some spend the holidays by themselves.

The volunteering project 'Noël de la Rue' has been organising a yearly get-together to provide a festive atmosphere for those who feel loneliest on Christmas.

Around 370 people were welcomed in Hollerich and in Esch this year, where 80 volunteers cooked for them. There were also plenty of gifts, explains organiser Léon Kraus who talked to our colleagues at RTL.

For years, the meal is combined with different activities such as concerts, bingo, or art studios, with the number of visitors increasing every year.
