Contern has a new majority after the local branches of the Democratic Party (DP), the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP), and The Greens (déi Gréng) signed a coalition agreement on Wednesday evening.

This marks the first-ever Blue-Red-Green (DP-LSAP-The Greens) coalition at the local level. DP councillor Dali Zhu will take over as mayor, with Pol Thomé (LSAP) serving as deputy mayor, and Ari Arrensdorff (déi Gréng) as second alderman.

The reshuffle follows the resignation of Mayor Marion Zovilé-Braquet in early October amid internal disagreements. The new coalition now holds a slim majority in the Contern municipal council, with six seats against five for the CSV.
