On Friday, the government council gave the go ahead to approve financial assistance for installing private charging stations for electric vehicles.

The amendment of a 2020 Grand Ducal regulation will target private households and, in particular, blocks of apartments.

In broadening the financial aid in this way, the government hopes to expand the circle of beneficiaries. In November last year, the government introduced financial incentives for companies who install charging points on their premises.

The amendment will also allow for the possibility of granting aid via the intermediary of a leasing company.

The aid regime has been extended until the end of 2024.
