Following a unanimous vote during the Chamber of Deputies’ final session of 2025, people opting to install solar panels will soon only have to pay for the amount of the investment not covered by government subsidies. The CSV-DP coalition has championed this project timed and again as an example of how to make climate protection more accessible.
The companies wanting to participate must first sign up to the new register (know as the ‘registre des installateurs admis à la procédure de préfinancement’, or ‘register of installers eligible for the pre-financing procedure’). The private client then only has to pay their portion, and the installer can directly apply for the subsidy from the government afterwards.
The current climate bonus system will continue to operate alongside the new project, as the subsidy amount is the same in both cases. The subsidy is calculated as a flat rate dependent on the installation capacity.
Battery purchases can also benefit from the pre-financing option if they are ordered at the same time as the solar panel installation. People who want to equip an existing installation with a battery may also apply for the subsidy.
Energy Minister Lex Delles told the Chamber of Deputies on Thursday that people had many options for different devices, which would encourage competition between the various installers.
The pre-financing option is available for all installations ordered prior to 31 December 2029.
