According to Statec, the annual inflation rate in March was 6.1 per cent, slightly lower than the previous month (6.6 per cent in February) and of the Eurozone average.
On the other hand, it is clearly above the 2 percent of the European Central Bank.
In particular, a significant increase was felt in energy prices last month. The prices for diesel rose by another 15.4 percent in March compared to February, and for benzene by 9.2 percent. Mazut went up by 22.1 per cent. Compared to March 2021, gas station prices have increased by 56.9 per cent.
Food prices also continue to rise. Compared to February, it was an increase of 1.2 percent in March. Pasta and couscous are 4.5 per cent more expensive, meat 2.1. Fresh vegetables, on the other hand, have fallen by 3 per cent. Compared to March 2021, there was a 4 per cent increase in food.
