Early on Sunday morning, we will have to set our watches and clocks forward by one hour. This despite the European Parliament voting to abolish the practice back in 2019.

The advantages and disadvantages of the time change have been discussed for years.

The abolition of time change has been discussed since 2018, but has not yet been achieved in the EU. In 2019, the European Parliament in Strasbourg voted in favour of ending the time change for the year 2021. One year later, you will still have to think about setting your watch forward on Saturday night.

Will this new time change be the last? It seems unlikely. The working group has not made any progress for four years.

It is the turn of the Council of the European Union to act, but the institution has still not expressed its position.

When contacted by our colleagues at Numerama on 23 March, the institution confirmed that the matter had not moved since their last contacts in March and October 2021.

Clocks go forward by one hour at 1am on Sunday morning, so if you're up at this point set your clocks to 2am.
