
Infection numbers are on the rise again. 542 new cases were registered between 23 and 29 August. The number of recorded contacts increased from 887 to 1,514 (+71%). Out of 542 new infections, 428 came down to unvaccinated people (78.9%). Furthermore, 27,349 PCR tests were done over the course of last week.
84.2% of people in regular hospital care are not vaccinated, while none of the current intensive care patients got the jab. The average age of patients decreased from 51 to 47 years.
Active infections went up from 662 on 22 August to 915 on 29 August. 73,927 people count as recovered. The average age for people testing positive for Covid-19 increased from 31.2 to 31.4 years.
The reproduction rate went down from 1.16 to 1.10. The positivity rate has however increased from 1.57% to 1.98%. The seven-day incidence is currently set at 85 new infections per 100,000 citizens.
Last week, 999 people entered isolation, 972 people entered quarantine.
As of 1 September, 763,335 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered. 391,721 people count as fully vaccinated. 6,978 doses were administered last week, with 2,952 people receiving their second shot. 38 people received a third jab.
During yesterday’s press conference, Minister of Health Paulette Lenert also conveyed that vaccines administered by GPs are soon to be integrated in the official Covid statistics.
