Minister of Education Claude Meisch has now reacted to the criticism, stating that the number of students who voluntarily retake a year to improve their grades is smaller than what Féduse noted. In its press release, the union lamented the lack of standards applied to lower high school classes, which would have more negative than positive effects. On Wednesday, the issue was brought up by the CSV during a meeting of the Chamber’s education commission.
