It’s certainly been a journey for us. In the early days of the website we relied exclusively on freelancers both for editing and translating - and it was only a few hours of translator time in the morning and evening, and one editor at a time.. which meant that it was, at any given time, a one (wo)man show.
That meant that we predominantly focused on translating stories from our sister sites - which we still do, of course - but had little original content of our own. Since then, we have launched original content series ranging from Knowledge Bites, to Opinions, Your Voice, Do’s and Don’ts, and Quizzes, to name just a few, and featured series by external contributors such as the British ambassador, and the mysterious man behind the sausage.
While we’ve had original video content from the start - RTL Introduces, Vox Pops, What To Try At - more recently we have started to expand our media offering with both TV shows such as science show PISA and the Luxembourgish version of Dragon’s Den, Success Stories, and of course original podcasts like Luxembourg History, In Conversation With Lisa Burke, My Goddam Quest for Happiness, and The Oatcast.
All of which are available on the newly launched multimedia app, RTL Play.
We’ve also got tonnes more to come, of course in terms of our local news coverage, but original article series, podcasts, TV shows, our immensely popular Livestreams on Facebook Live and more.
We are present on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn meaning there’s plenty more of us on the Socials.
None of this, not one thing, would be possible without YOU. Whether you’re one of the loyal readers who have been with us from the start, or found us more recently, none of this would be possible if it weren’t for each and everyone of you.
We are also THE MOST READ English language news source in Luxembourg. That is certainly something to raise a glass to.
With that in mind, all of us here at RTL Today would like to raise a glass not only to our third birthday, but to all of you for reading, watching and listening to the stuff we put out there, and for being such an engaged and interactive bunch. We love that you not only ‘consume’ what we put out there, but that you write to us, comment, send things in, come up with ideas for things you’d like to see us do. That, well, that’s gold.
We’ve got lots of fun new projects in the pipeline that we can’t wait to share with you, so we hope you’ll be with us for at least the next three years as well!
Now, on to the important bit - we’ve got:
..to give away to three of our most loyal and knowledgeable readers.. whomever they may be!
To be in with a chance to win, show off your RTL Today knowledge in the quiz below, and we’ll draw a winner at random from the entrants with the highest scores!
