Luxembourg's Grand Ducal court is in mourning after Princess Marie-Gabrielle of Luxembourg died on Friday at the age of 97.

Princess Marie-Gabrielle, born August 2, 1925 in Colmar-Berg, was the daughter of Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg and Prince Félix, Prince of Bourbon-Parma.

She was the sister of former Grand Duke Jean, and Grand Duke Henri's aunt and godmother.

Her passing was announced by the Court in a press statement, with the Grand Ducal couple expressing 'great sadness' at Marie-Gabrielle's death.

Princess Marie-Gabrielle was married to Count Knud of Holstein-Ledreborg (1919–2001) and had seven daughters.
