Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Theresa on Monday attended an emotional engagement in Esch-sur-Alzette to celebrate the opening of the new Elysis care home. The royal couple were accompanied by Chamber president Claude Wiseler, Esch Mayor Christian Weis, and Family Affairs Minister Max Hahn.
The distinguished guests were given a tour around the facilities to view all of the latest innovations, including specialised physiotherapy spaces, ergotherapy, and well-being facilities. The Grand Ducal couple were able to test out the new heated seats for medical purposes and also visited the therapeutic garden for patients with special needs.
In the building itself, the royal couple received a warm welcome from the elderly residents and their families, before proceeding to a reception with around 200 guests.
The Elysis care home will hold an open day on Saturday 15 June from 10am to 5pm.
