Louis Linster was awarded a second Michelin star by the Michelin Guide BeLux on Monday, 28 April, at the "Nieuwe Beurs" in Antwerp. The restaurants Grünewald Chef’s Table and Archibald De Prince received their first star, while René Mathieu reclaimed his.

Luxembourg's culinary scene shone brightly at the Michelin Guide BeLux 2025 awards, held on Monday 28 April at the "Nieuwe Beurs" in Antwerp.

One of the night's most anticipated honours went to Louis Linster, who secured a second Michelin star for his restaurant — a goal he had openly pursued for the past two years. The establishment, formerly run by his mother, renowned chef Léa Linster, had held a single Michelin star since 1987.

"It’s a dream come true", said Louis Linster as he accepted the award. Standing alongside him, Léa Linster added, "I'm very proud. This is the most beautiful gift he could have given me for my 70th birthday."

Luxembourg now boasts two two-starred restaurants, with Linster's joining Ma Langue Sourit, led by chef Cyril Molard.

Several other Luxembourg establishments also earned new distinctions.

Among the newly awarded is Grünewald Chef’s Table, led by Clovis Degrave, which opened a year and a half ago in Dommeldange. The restaurant had been widely tipped as a strong contender and was officially recognised in Antwerp.

Another rising star is Archibald De Prince – Table et Chambres in Lauterborn. Run by former La Distillerie sous-chef Archibald De Prince and his partner Rachel, the restaurant opened just six months ago – but despite its recent arrival, Michelin awarded it a star.

Meanwhile, veteran chef René Mathieu reclaimed his Michelin star and Green Star for sustainability, honours he previously held at La Distillerie at Château de Bourglinster. Mathieu will now display the accolades at Fields, the new restaurant at the Airfield Hotel near Findel, which opened in January.

The awards underline Luxembourg's growing reputation as a hub for high-end gastronomy in the Greater Region.
