You've already got the monthly What's On picks for family, but it's time you get the low-down. Here are our top favourites for this week!

What's going on this week? Plenty!

Tuesday

Going straight to Tuesday, Kulturhaus in Niederanven brings you the workshop Rainbow bird! In this multilingual activity, your child will design and paint wooden birds using laser-cut shapes and bright spring colours.

If that's not your scene, Kulturhaus Niederanven also offers Mensch-ärgere-dich-nicht. Here the whole family can craft their own version of a board game. The event takes place in German, Luxembourgish, English, and French.

Wednesday

Moving on to Wednesday, an evening of magic is awaiting you. David Goldrake, the internationally-known magician from Luxembourg, is performing in Hal Irbicht in Mersch. Celebrating a quarter-century of magic, Goldrake has a show filled with illusions, stage magic, and more. He's also performing Thursday!

It's obviously a busy week at the Kulturhaus Niederanven because on Wednesday they invite children from six years old, teenagers, and adults to come to their event, By The Book. It's a workshop all about Japanese bookbinding. Children will choose their papers to create their own notebook with personal touches. They will also learn about risograph prints to make an extra cool cover! Not only does this event take place in many languages, it's happening on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday this week.

Thursday

Besides the previously mentioned magic show from David Goldrake and bookbinding event, By The Book, there's still more stuff to do on Thursday.

Tales and Shadows is an artistic workshop for children at the Mudam. Kids will create their own light-and-shadow characters inspired by Asian shadow theatre.

Friday

You may know the story of the Rosetta Stone, but the workshop My Rosetta Stone at the City Museum in Luxembourg allows kids to create their own version by engraving symbols and languages into clay. This time, the workshop will be in French.

There's one more thing for Friday! Villa Vauban is hosting Zoom In: The colour magicians. Kids will go through a tour of the museum, and then they'll go straight to mixing colours and experimenting with painting! This one is also in French this time.

Saturday

Don't forget about the bookbinding workshop, By The Book, hosted at Kulturhaus Niederanven! Read above for more info!

Luxcon 2025 is having their 11th edition this weekend. Right in the city at Forum Geesseknäppchen, Luxcon is the perfect place to celebrate sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. Go see costumes, buy items from your favourite fandoms, and enjoy the fun!

Want a creative session fit for your family? Mudam invites everyone for the Drop in! Memory Patterns event. Here you'll transform words and memories into colourful paper boats!

Visit Luxembourg in the Middle Ages "KIDS"! At the City Museum in Luxembourg City, your family is invited to this child-friendly journey into medieval Luxembourg with archaeological objects and a visit to the city’s ancient crypt. It's a great way to go inside the history of the country.

Sunday

I'll say it once more, so you definitely don't miss the cool event at Kulturhaus Niederanven, By The Book!, as well as Mudam's Drop in! Memory Patterns event.

What else deserves another shoutout? Luxcon 2025! Unleash the imagination and the costumes along with other fans of your favourite shows or fandoms.

If, like me, you love going to the movies, Cinémathèque is showing the kid-friendly Franklin et le trésor du lac. This movie will be shown in French, and it depicts the cute little turtle, Franklin, going on a treasure hunt along with his friend Samantha. It's an adorable animation that brings fun while still being peacefully-paced. What's not to love?

See you next week for more info on what's going on in Luxembourg! And you can see all of the events happening in the month of April here.
