You've already got the monthly What's On picks for family, but it's time you get the low-down. Here are our top favorites of the week!
Here we are again, ready to explore exciting events for the whole family this week! The start of the week is a little busier than usual, with events kicking off as early as Monday evening!
Monday
First up, the Classic Rock Show, paying tribute to legends of classic rock such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen, and The Rolling Stones, to name just a few. Rockhal opens its doors at 8pm on Monday evening, and the show isn’t sold out yet… it's a great way to start the week!
Tuesday
For those with children aged 6 to 12, head to the CAPE in Ettelbruck for Wir Spielen Theater, a two-hour theatre workshop introducing kids to voice, movement, emotions, and interaction with others.
Wednesday
On Wednesday, Rockhal welcomes you back for the musical Mamma Mia. The venue will transform into a Greek island for this two-and-a-half-hour show (including an intermission), performed in English with French and German subtitles.
Doors open at 7 pm. But don’t worry if you can’t make it on Wednesday – the show runs until Saturday. You can even try your luck at winning free tickets with Today Radio!
Thursday
The Luxembourg Film Fest kicks off on Thursday and runs for several days across multiple venues. Check out the programme, as there’s plenty for children, including films like Dinomite & Lucy, Benjamin Bat, and many more. But it’s not just about films – there are also workshops like Souvenirs en mouvement, where kids can experiment with zoetropes and discover animation, or Crazy Cinematographe where they can learn more about the sci-fi genre.
While it starts on Thrusday, check the programme now to sign up for your favourite activities in time!
Friday
For those aged 6 to 96, CAPE in Ettelbruck is hosting Moving Shadows – Our World, a mesmerising, wordless shadow theatre performance on Friday.
And as if the week wasn’t busy enough already, there’s still plenty happening over the weekend, so read on!
Saturday
Children aged 6 to 9 can explore the Buergbrennen (the Luxembourgish tradition of lighting torches to drive away the winter) and make their own torch with the Tuffi-Pro Atelier at Cercle Cité on Saturday. Advance booking is required!
Staying on the theme of creativity and carnival, get inspired by mandala patterns and confetti and make art using a dotting technique! those interested in learning and practising the point technique while visiting slate quarries can head to the Musée de l'Ardoise. Registration is required, and children from 6 years and above are welcome. Carnival costumes are encouraged, but sturdy shoes and a jacket are recommended!
Alternatively (or additionally, depending on how many activities you can fit in!), children can join stylist Sophie Dewalque at Kulturhaus Niederanven to learn about creative upcycling by making a spring crown from various materials.
Sunday
To end the week on a musical note, grab one of the last tickets left for Früh Stück – a sound and rhythm-based show in Mersch for children aged 3 and up.
Finally, Villa Vauban is hosting a 45-minute musical morning for children aged 4 to 7, combining art and music with two musicians, Frin Wolter (accordion) and Ela Baumann (hurdy-gurdy).
