The Luxembourg-based indie-rock rising force performed live on KEXP - a name that will be familiar to alternative music lovers - with the vibrant band becoming the first Grand-Duchy act to step onto the stage at the American station.

This June, Luxembourg's own indie rock band Francis of Delirium performed at KEXP, a well known Seattle-based radio station (and Youtube channel). KEXP is a champion for fostering strong community and passionate musical artistry, supporting singers and music makers throughout the world.

The Grand-Duchy-based rising stars hit the KEXP stage on 7 June, 2024 as the first band from Luxembourg to go under their spotlight. KEXP shared the thirty minute live session with Francis of Delirium on 11 September, 2024, where they inquired about the new album, and dove deep into the unique sound of this Luxembourgish artist.

Francis of Delirium proudly represents Luxembourg on the KEXP live session, and discusses what it means to be an artist from a smaller country, difficulties included. Jana expresses that she hopes to be a creative inspiration to kids back in Luxembourg, because she feels more encouragement is needed surrounding the idea of following one's dreams.

She hopes to convey the process of 'getting out' and exploring what you are truly passionate about, no matter where you're from. With this objective in mind, Jana mentioned that later this summer Francis of Delirium was going to surprise a school in Luxembourg with a performance, so they can see first hand what is possible when you truly work toward something you love.

No stranger 'round these parts

The idea of Francis of Delirium was born when Jana Bahrich was just 18 years old writing songs in her bedroom, and self producing her first EPs. Canadian born, whilst living in Luxembourg, with additions like a UK label and an American drummer, proves Bahrich's music is not only a fusion of grunge and folk, but also of multiple cultures.

Debut album Lighthouse, released in April of 2024, exudes a hopeful and vulnerable sound that heavily resonates with the fanbase, given the extremely positive response to their full-length maiden effort. Jana explains this album reflects the feeling of "letting love pour in", when questioned about the writing process at the KEXP session.

Francis of Delirium has started to become a household name in Luxembourg, given the incredibly relatable music and captivating mix of genres. Winning best song and best live performance at the Luxembourg Screaming Fields festival certainly had a massive impact on the band's popularity as well.

We at RTL have been enjoying getting to know 'Francis' throughout the years, whether it's through the dulcet tones of Today Radio's Sam Steen on a 2023 interview, an insightful catch-up regarding the 2022 US tour, or a revealing sit-down marking the release of single 'Ashamed', back in 2020.

Speaking of 2020, the lockdown sessions gave us an intimate, live-streamed set; and a fantastic performance on the inaugural Rocklab Pop Up Session, which you can still catch on RTL Play.
