As we looked ahead to 2021 a year ago, it looked like we had a bright future ahead. How do you feel this year?

As 2020, the first year of the pandemic, drew to a close, it looked like things were on the up. For one, it the roll-out of vaccinations at the very end of 2020 had many of us hoping for an end to the pandemic. Then came the Delta variant, which quickly became dominant in the Grand Duchy as it had elsewhere, in turn followed by Omicron.

After initially easing restrictions, we've seen increasingly strict measures put in place to curb the spread of various variants. In response, we've seen thousands of people march through the streets. The vast majority have been peaceful, while a small minority clashed with police.

Looking ahead to 2021, MPs will debate mandatory vaccination as CovidCheck becomes mandatory in ever more places, and boosters are becoming the new norm in an effort to keep the spread of the virus at bay.
