The streets of Monte Carlo – Sainte Devote, Casino, Mirabeau, Piscine, Rascasse – are etched in motorsport history. This weekend, the iconic circuit will not only host the Formula 1 Grand Prix, but also welcome 27 drivers competing in the Porsche Supercup.
For Luxembourg's Chester Kieffer, the Monaco track will be uncharted territory, as it is closed to all pre-event testing. Speaking to RTL, Kieffer explained that he has done everything possible to prepare, including intensive simulator sessions to familiarise himself with the 3.3km street circuit.
This is not Kieffer's debut in a Porsche 911 Cup car. Last season, he raced in the French Carrera Cup, claiming the rookie classification in 10 out of 12 races, ultimately becoming rookie champion and finishing sixth overall.
Now, he is ready to take on the next challenge: a step up to the German Carrera Cup, while also making his first appearance in the European-level Supercup.
The German Carrera Cup season is already underway, and Kieffer is quickly making his mark. Out of eight races so far, he has finished as the best rookie in six, currently leading the rookie standings and sitting in eighth place in the overall classification.
As he enters the Porsche Supercup, Kieffer told RTL that he is set on winning the rookie title and determined to establish himself among the series' rising stars.
Kieffer's progress has not gone unnoticed. Former Supercup champion Dylan Pereira is now coaching him closely, praising both his preparation and the strength of his French team, Schumacher CLRT.
Last year, the squad claimed the Supercup drivers' championship with Alessandro Ghiretti.
Kieffer will also share the grid with some prominent names this season. Former Formula 1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve was originally set to contest all eight rounds as a guest driver in the VIP 911 Porsche.
However, due to the strict 28-car limit on the narrow Monaco circuit, Villeneuve's entry has been put on hold for this weekend, with all available spots filled by regular Supercup competitors.
The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup serves as a support series for Formula 1 at every round. Alongside Monaco, the calendar features races in Barcelona, Spielberg, Spa, Budapest, Zandvoort, and Monza.
RTL Luxembourg will once again broadcast every Supercup race with Luxembourgish commentary, both on RTL ZWEE and via livestream on RTL PLAY. The Monaco season opener will be shown live on Sunday from 11.40am.
