ABORTION RIGHTS – Calls to enshrine abortion in Luxembourg's constitution have reignited political divisions, with CSV president Luc Frieden stressing it should remain a conditional freedom rather than a guaranteed right.

POPE REFORMS – Pope Leo XIV sought to reassure Catholics in his first interview published Thursday that he would not change key doctrine on gay marriage and women deacons, after his predecessor's divisive papacy.
GAZA VOTE – The United Nations Security Council is slated to vote Thursday on the latest call for a ceasefire and increased humanitarian access to Gaza, a move supported by a majority seeking to act despite repeated US vetoes.

CL FOOTBALL – The second night of CL action saw Harry Kane score twice as Bayern Munich beat Chelsea 3-1, and there were also wins for Liverpool, Inter Milan, and PSG.
ATHLETICS – Karsten Warholm and Femke Bol will have a chance to add another medal to their collection on the seventh day of action at the world championships in Tokyo on Friday in their respective 400m races
MOTOR RACING – Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris will resume their world title battle in Azerbaijan this weekend and, having won 12 of the 16 races to date this year between them, could also already secure McLaren the constructors' crown.
