On Sunday evening, police in the capital received reports of shots on Avenue Monterey.

When officers arrived on the scene just before 8pm, they found a man with injuries to his back and brought him to hospital.

Initial reports say the shots were heard in the park around Villa Vauban. Two people are said to have approached a group of four, at which point one of the two began firing at the group. They then fled the scene by car, but were stopped in Merl not long afterwards.

Both suspects were arrested, alongside a third individual, and were brought before a judge on Monday morning.

A large police operation unfolded following the shooting on Sunday night, involving a special team and a canine unit. At this stage, the investigation believes there is a link between the two groups involved in the shooting.
