A nationwide recall has been issued for several Blédina baby food products due to contamination with aflatoxin B1, a genotoxic substance deemed dangerous for children by food safety authorities.

Several Blédina brand baby food products are being recalled in Luxembourg due to the presence of an excessively high level of aflatoxin B1, a substance considered dangerous for children.

The affected products, as listed on the official lu-alert.lu website, are:

  • Blédine Banana and milk (6 to 36 months)
  • Blédine growth vanilla flavour (from 12 months)
  • Blédine Honey and milk (6 to 36 months)
  • Blédine biscuit flavour (from 6 months)
  • Blédine biscuit flavour and milk (6 to 36 months)

Aflatoxins are mycotoxins produced by certain moulds that can grow on crops under specific conditions of temperature and humidity. According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), aflatoxins are genotoxic and carcinogenic, posing a health risk with high and repeated consumption.

Consumers in possession of any affected product are advised to return it to the point of sale.
