Dear all,
We will spend the next few days with our loved ones. But it is important to stay safe, both to protect ourselves and to protect our families. Fortunately, we know how to do this: Rapid tests can offer additional security alongside vaccination, wearing masks, regular ventilation and distancing.
None of us sought out this pandemic. We would never have chosen to have the new Omicron variant circulating in Luxembourg so close to the holidays. But we can’t let it get us down!
I hope you are able to switch off over the holidays and re-energise, so you can achieve any personal projects you might have set yourselves for 2022. I personally have resolved to do everything within my power to get our country through these difficult times. Alongside the virus, we are confronted with many different challenges that we need to face. Climate change, the right to housing, and social injustices are just three of these challenges which I personally am concerned about.
I will also be thinking of the people who will be serving our country during the Christmas holidays. Particularly health and care staff have earned our deepest gratitude.
I wish you and your families a very merry, restful and safe Christmas period!
