The age of the patients must also be taken into account, as many patients hospitalised for Covid-19 also have other pre-existing conditions, resulting in an already weakened immune system when they enter hospital.
The youngest patients hospitalised in Luxembourg have, for the most part, not been vaccinated.
The National Health Directorate also points out that the booster shot plays an important part in the protection against the virus, as it has been proven that the effectiveness of the vaccine tends to decrease with time.
