NYE overviewWhich municipalities allow fireworks this year?

Fireworks are a popular tradition on New Year’s Eve, however in many places setting them off without authorisation from the municipality is not permitted.

Each year, numerous locations across the country ban fireworks, bangers, and other firecrackers on New Year’s Eve for safety, environmental, and animal welfare reasons. We have compiled an overview of the municipalities where fireworks were permitted or prohibited last year, compared to this year.

Has the regulation in your municipality changed this year? If so, please send us an email at with the relevant press release, letter, or website from your municipality where this information is published. Simple text emails without a document, or links sent from non-official email addresses, will not be considered.

If your municipality does not appear on this list, it is advisable to contact them directly to find out whether fireworks are permitted in your area.

Many municipalities that do allow fireworks do so under specific rules or restrictions, such as limiting them to certain locations or time windows. Details for your municipality can usually be found on their website.
