The latest report from the Directorate of Health indicates that the number of respiratory illnesses in Luxembourg currently remains low.

During the 41st calendar week (5 to 11 October 2026), the number of positive SARS-CoV-2 cases fell from 136 to 128, a drop of 9%, which also comes in below the corresponding figure from last year.

The viral concentration in wastewater has also declined. The XFG variant accounted for 65% of the positive cases, while the NB.1.8.1 variant made up 15%.

The number of influenza cases reported by laboratories dropped from 51 to 29.

The rise observed the previous week was therefore not sustained, with figures having held steady in the weeks before.

In 96% of these cases, the infection was identified as influenza type A.

The number of detected respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases stood at two during week 41, the same as in the preceding week.
