The syndicate maintained that Bausch is not focusing on the correct discussion by proposing the recruitment of non-Luxembourgers to the army. SPAL outlined several concerns about recruiting non-Luxembourgers, notably that there would be issues with communication, integration, and loyalty to the nation. The syndicate claimed this idea would cause "unacceptable problems" and maintained that there are sufficient candidates, but that the army must change its recruitment and continuous training alongside improved advertising.
SPAL also claimed that the army's work overload is problematic and called for a better dialogue with the minister. The trade union also expressed its dissatisfaction that Bausch constantly refers to the "social role" of the army and describes a "Green army". SPAL maintained that a "Green army" is not compatible with a modern and efficient army, claiming that making the army a carbon neutral institution would only occur at the expense of soldiers' lives. In the press release, the trade union reiterated that the minister should not use the army for party political purposes.
In general, the trade union highlighted it does not want the army to be steadily downgraded, but instead prioritises decent jobs in the public and municipal sectors.
