Unsettled weather is forecast for Saturday in Luxembourg and neighbouring regions, with moderate thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening. Heavy rain, gusty winds, and hail may accompany the storms.

Meteolux has issued a thunderstorm warning for Luxembourg valid from 3pm to 8.59pm on Saturday, 4 May. The afternoon will start partly cloudy with light to moderate rain showers before intensifying toward evening. Locally severe thunderstorms could bring 15-25 litres of rain per square metre in a short timeframe, wind gusts up to 70 km/h, and hail.

Despite the instability, temperatures will remain mild, reaching 20-22°C in the afternoon. Cloudy skies will persist overnight, but showers are expected to taper off by Sunday.

Similar conditions in Lorraine

The French region of Lorraine is under a yellow weather alert from 2pm Saturday until 3am Sunday. Threatening skies may give way to thunderstorms, though temperatures will stay above 20°C.

No further alerts are expected on either side of the border on Sunday. Luxembourg will see cooler conditions, with morning lows of 6-8°C and afternoon highs of 13-15°C under clearer skies.
