Motorists heading north via the N7 will need even more patience from Monday, as traffic conditions are set to deteriorate further.

From 23 March until mid-2028, the overtaking lane between Hosingen and Dirbach will be closed, with speed limits reduced to 70 km/h. The measures are part of ongoing works linked to the Hosingen bypass project, which will see several bridges constructed along this stretch over the next two years.

Even without roadworks, heavy congestion is already common in Hosingen during rush hour. The situation is now expected to worsen significantly.

This is not the only disruption affecting drivers heading north. On the A7, the left lane has been closed for several weeks in both the Stafelter and Grouft tunnels, with speeds also reduced to 70 km/h due to ventilation issues, in both directions.

Further works are also planned on the N7 at Fridhaff, where safety upgrades are due to begin shortly. The central measure involves installing a median barrier, along with reducing the speed limit to 90 km/h.

In the longer term, the N7 will be gradually upgraded in phases along its entire length from Fridhaff to Weiswampach.
