Early on Sunday evening, police were called out to a supermarket on Place de la Gare in Luxembourg City after a man made off with a range of food items and alcoholic drinks. The intoxicated man was held by security staff until officers arrived.
Later that same evening, the same man tried his luck again at the same shop. Police had to step in for the second time. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, he was arrested and brought before the examining magistrate on Monday.
Overnight into Monday, officers pulled over three drivers who had been drinking too much before getting behind the wheel. At around 11pm in Hesperange on Rue de Gasperich, a female driver drew attention with her erratic driving. She tested positive for alcohol, and her licence was seized on the spot.
Half an hour later, police received a report of another vehicle weaving from one side of the road to the other. The intoxicated driver was stopped in Consdorf on Rue de Berbourg. Here too, the licence was seized.
In Esch-sur-Alzette on Boulevard Kennedy, another motorist drew police attention by running a red light. A subsequent check showed that alcohol was again a factor, and that licence too was confiscated. Official reports were filed in each case.
