Familiar favourites remain at the top of Luxembourg's baby name lists for 2025, according to preliminary hospital data, with Noah and Emma leading across multiple regions.

A look at naming trends for children born in Luxembourg in 2025 shows some familiar favourites topping the lists at the country’s major hospitals.

RTL compiled data from hospitals in the north, centre, and south of the country as of late December 2025.

In Luxembourg City, which recorded 5,768 births, the most popular names were:

  • Girls: Sofia, Olivia, Emma, and Alice.
  • Boys: Noah, Gabriel, Liam, and Leo.

Luxembourg City Mayor Lydie Polfer noted that, to her knowledge, no proposed name has ever been refused by city officials during her tenure.

The Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch (CHEM) in Esch-sur-Alzette reported 855 (433 girls and 422 boys). The most common names there were:

  • Girls: Emma (7), Sofia (6), followed by Clara, Iris, Valentina, and Giulia (5 each).
  • Boys: Leo (7), followed by Noah and Matteo (6 each), and Felix and Liam (5 each).

The Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHdN) in Ettelbruck reported 827 births as of 23 December. The top names were:

  • Girls: Emma and Liv (7 each).
  • Boys: Noah (11).
