Charleroi Airport's air traffic controllers have announced that, unless an agreement is reached with their employer, they will strike every night from 10pm to 8am until 10 October.
At least 44 flights have already been cancelled for Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
One of the air traffic controllers’ main demands is to receive the same additional pay for night shifts as their colleagues at Liège Airport. Their employer, Skeyes, has rejected this demand, arguing that there is considerably more activity at Liège Airport during the night than at Charleroi.
If the strike continues until 10 October as announced, at least 800 flights are expected to be affected.
