On Wednesday, around 6,000 pupils embarked on their first day of secondary school as they entered the 7e year. Now it is the turn of the rest of Luxembourg's pupils to head back into their respective classrooms. In total, 55,926 pupils are registered for secondary school, a solid thousand more than last year. A total of 6,175 teachers will be moulding the minds of Luxembourg's public school pupils, two thirds of them civil servants of the state and the rest state employees.
The secondary school with the largest number of registered pupils is the Lycée technique du centre, spread across Limpertsberg and Kirchberg, with 2,126 registrations. Alongside the Lycée Mathias Adam in Pétange, it is one of only two schools with more than 2,000 pupils on the books.
