Witnesses had reported a sinking boat on the Moselle river earlier in the evening.
CGDIS subsequently conducted an extended search of the river, but did not find anything.
A police helicopter was at the scene to provide the search party with air-support.
Since nothing was found, the undertaking was abandoned at midnight.
