Luxembourg police are warning the public of a new scam involving criminals posing as officers on messaging platforms.

In a bulletin issued Tuesday morning, police noted a recent increase in cases where residents have received calls via messaging platforms that appear to originate from the Luxembourg police. In the examples depicted below, the calls were linked to Gmail addresses.

Officials emphasise that police services do not use messaging platforms to conduct official calls.

Residents receiving such calls are advised not to answer, to block the contact immediately, and to always verify the caller’s identity before responding. If uncertain, the public should contact the police emergency line at 113.
