On Sunday morning, police received a report of a violent theft at the Bouillon car park in Luxembourg City. According to initial findings, a man had punched the victim in the face before making off with his glasses.
The victim suffered facial injuries in the attack. A search operation led to the suspect being tracked down at the scene.
A check of the individual showed that he did indeed still have the stolen glasses on him. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the man was arrested and brought before the examining magistrate.
At 2.30am on Sunday, police were alerted to two suspects in the Cité op Eechelter housing area in Steinfort, where they had been trying to open car doors.
Officers came across three individuals on the scene, none of whom held a residence permit for the Grand Duchy. Two of the three were subsequently taken to the detention centre on the orders of the Foreign Ministry.
