Cycling associations in Luxembourg argue that soft mobility should be prioritised, a demand that they hope will be heard and respected in light of the upcoming elections this year.

Since more than half of residents’ commutes are less than five kilometres and transit traffic is leading to congestion in town centres, cycling associations argue that it is time to give bicycles priority.

Read also: Can the bike find its deserved place in the city?Non-profit organisation ‘Vëlo Diddeleng’ (‘Bicycle Dudelange’) believes that parts of their town have already been made more accessible for cyclists. Nevertheless, president Raoul Petit thinks that there is still room for improvement with many dangers to cyclists that still need to be addressed.

Petit acknowledged that the municipality has an open ear for the association. He hopes that future work on infrastructure in the town will be more aware of bicycles.
