Last Thursday’s stabbing led to the death of a 35-year-old real estate agent named Alicia, with a second woman left with life-threatening injuries.
As of Monday, a bouquet of flowers outside the front door marks the site of the events, while the victim’s family released a photograph in her memory.
Alongside this tribute came a series of expressions of thanks, notably to the woman who attempted to help Alicia and was herself critically injured, as well as to the police officers, investigators, and the many people – often strangers – who have supported the family in recent days. The message is also linked to an online fundraising campaign, intended to help cover funeral costs, legal expenses, and the creation of a memorial.
The family’s lawyer in France is considering initiating legal proceedings there as well, while the investigation in Luxembourg continues at full pace. The suspected perpetrator, a 27-year-old Belgian national, is the subject of an arrest warrant on charges of murder, attempted murder, and intentional bodily harm. He was apprehended around 20 minutes after the emergency call, between Bridel and Strassen, after police noticed his damaged vehicle near Biergerkräiz.
According to information provided to RTL, investigators are ruling out the hypothesis that the attack was committed by a former partner. A contract killing is also considered unlikely, as is the idea of a random act. Instead, the current working hypothesis is that the suspect deliberately arranged a meeting with the victim.
Investigators also believe it was no coincidence that the suspect was carrying a knife. How he selected his victim and what his precise motive was remain central questions in the investigation, which is being conducted in close cooperation with Belgian authorities.
According to the lawyer representing the second victim, she is now in relatively stable condition. He said the victim had simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time; the appointment had been arranged solely with the real estate agent.
The lawyer further confirmed that he is acting on behalf of the injured woman’s family, noting that her mother has formally joined the case as a civil claimant before the investigating judge. He added that the meeting had been intended only for the agent and that there was no connection whatsoever between the incident and the occupants or owner of the property in Limpertsberg.
The second victim, he explained, intervened only because she wanted to help and may, in doing so, have prevented an even worse outcome. He concluded that while she remains under medical care, her condition is improving, and that she and her family have expressed profound gratitude to all those who helped save her life.
