Luxembourg emergency services responded to a serious three-vehicle collision on the A6 motorway Saturday afternoon. The accident occurred at 3.20pm approximately 100 metres across the border in the direction of Luxembourg.

According to the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), the driver of one of the cars died in the accident. Two passengers in the same vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries, while three people in another car were slightly injured. All injured individuals were taken to hospital for treatment.

The fatality was reported by police in an update on Saturday evening. Officials also said that a total of three vehicles were involved in the crash, not two as previously communicated.

The collision prompted a full closure of the A6 in both directions to facilitate emergency operations. Police partially reopened the Belgium-bound lane by 5pm, while the Luxembourg-bound lane remained closed on Saturday.

Emergency response teams included paramedics from Luxembourg City, Esch-sur-Alzette, Junglinster, Kahler, Steinfort, and Mamer, supported by an Air Rescue helicopter. Authorities have not yet released information regarding the cause of the accident.
